Floodplain Information The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is currently undergoing a Map Modernization program. This modernization will convert the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) maps from a paper-based format to a digital format. NFIP maps in a digital format will allow the use of revised data and improved technologies to better identify the dynamic flood hazard conditions that may not currently be reflected due to development and/or natural changes in the environment. Champaign County maps were updated and became effective November 18, 2009. The flood hazard boundaries can be viewed on our interactive GIS mapping tool by clicking on the link at the top of this page. To view the flood hazard area select the following layer.
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) information is available at the office of the County Engineer. Community panel numbers and effective dates are given for public use. More information concerning the Flood Insurance Rate Maps can be found at http://www.fema.gov/ |
